The PZD 556 light machine gun is a fully automatic weapon that provides crucial fire support of a team or operator. It is carried and operated by a single operator. In case of need it can be mounted to Mil-Spec cradles and perform a limited range of tasks as a universal machine gun. The weapon fires from the open bolt position, the breech is locked by a rotating bolt and unlocked by a screw slide; the slide is carried to the rear by the action of the piston carrier, which is pushed by the combusted gases.
